Here I am chanting Ezekiel 43:10 - 27 at my Bat Mitzvah. Rabbi Nate is smiling behind me. "Bat Mitzvah" just means "daughter of the commandment" and means that I am choosing to be in covenant with God (ie, I'm willing to be in a relationship with Him His way - because His way is the best way!). "Chanting" means that I am singing the Scripture in Hebrew. I completed my Bat Mitzvah ceremony on March 3, 2007 when I was 25 years old because I did not have the opportunity earlier. Regardless of how old you are, I strongly recommend it.
I learned so much as I prepared to teach. God opened up my eyes and revealed Truths in His Word that blew my mind away. And then I got to share those truths with everyone in the entire congregation! That was definitely the best part. Anyone who knows me knows I love to teach, which to me is just sharing with others what God has shared with me.
Chanting God's Word in Hebrew, His language, was also really awesome. The congregation of God's people heard His Word when the true and faithful prophets spoke. They didn't hide in their bedrooms with their own Bibles. I got to taste what it was like for them to share the Words of God with the people they love - and it's totally awesome!
Finally, there is no "finally" about that day. The following week, I got to teach again at a Bible study for elderly and disAbled people - people I had never met before - how cool is that?! My younger bro recorded it and then made a professional DVD, so I have been able to continue to share what God taught me with people who were not able to attend on that day, which happened to be more than expected because of the blizzard. And, of course, I continue to learn more and share more as God reveals more and brings more people into my life. He is so good!!!
Whatever's in my heart ends up as a song, so here is the song I sang at my Bat Mitzvah at the end of my teaching. I had actually written it the previous Passover. It fit really well into my teaching, which was about the future temple, because it describes how the death of Yeshua (Jesus) restores our relationship with Elohim (God) by removing the barrier of our sin. Note: the veil was actually blue, purple, and scarlet, but all those colors don't fit within the beats of the song :)
The Purple Veil
There’s a purple veil torn in two
There’s an empty grave where my God was laid
I see into the most holy place
I find that Yeshua’s the way
Yeshua’s the way and the truth and the life
Yeshua’s this world’s only hope, only light
Yeshua made a way where there was no way
My soul bless His holy name
There’s a purple veil torn behind me
There’s an empty grave where I should have been laid
I stand inside the most holy place
I found that Yeshua’s the way
Yeshua’s the way and the truth and the life
Yeshua’s this world’s only hope, only light
Yeshua made a way where there was no way
My soul bless His holy name
