Israel: Service Project: Haifa

We spent several days in Haifa. First, we spoke to people in a busy square, sharing the gospel with them and praying for them.

We split up into small groups to help around a retirement home. My group finished painting the bomb shelter. During the war with Lebanon, they had to go to the bomb shelter about 5 times a day "until the bomb hit," which was usually about 20 minutes.

Another service project was cleaning the walls and floors of the hallways of an apartment complex where Holocaust survivors reside. They spoke Russian and Hebrew (no English), but a smile as an expression of gratitude is universal.

This wasn't technically a service project, but to bless the congregation that housed us during our stay in Haifa, we sang "Amazing Grace" during their Sabbath service. To give you an idea of how diverse our team was, "Amazing Grace" was the only song we all knew!
